Driving Change in Asbestos Safety
On 10 September 2025, Combined Demolition Services CEO Ben Bailey joined John Limpus (Founder, About the House) and representatives from the Asbestos Diseases Foundation of Australia (ADFA) including Barry Robson (President), Karen Martin (Secretary), Elizabeth Schenk (Helpline Operator), Kate Robson (Treasurer), and members of the ADFA Committee at NSW Parliament House.
The group met with Premier Chris Minns and Minister for Industrial Relations Sophie Cotsis to celebrate ADFA’s tireless advocacy and the NSW Government’s leadership in banning engineered stone from 2024 a landmark decision already saving lives.
Our Commitment
Discussions also highlighted urgent reforms: updating the 10m² rule, introducing asbestos registers for rental properties, and reducing asbestos removal notice from five to three days. Minister Cotsis welcomed these proposals and committed to ongoing collaboration with industry leaders to strengthen asbestos safety.
At CDS, we’re proud to stand alongside ADFA and About the House in advocating for safer practices that protect workers, families, and communities.
